The featured gage was the first of its kind on the market. Many engine manufacturers required a portable solution for measuring surface finish and profile on valve seats in cylinder heads. While most laboratory instruments were capable of performing these measurements, they required operators to move the part to a separate location within the facility. Instead, the customer wanted to perform measurements directly on the shop floor during production. And so, this innovative design was born.
